Which types of phone numbers are there

Local number

010, 020, 030, 070 number etc.

A regional number, also known as a local phone number, shows where your business is based. Thanks to a recognisable Dutch area code, you build trust and increase the chance that customers will call you. The caller doesn’t pay any extra call charges. Ideal for entrepreneurs who operate regionally.

Local number

National number

085, 088 number

An 085 or 088 number is a national business phone number that can be used anywhere in the Netherlands. Ideal for companies that operate nationwide or have multiple locations.

The number isn’t tied to a specific location, so you stay reachable even if your business moves or grows. The caller doesn’t pay any extra call charges. 085 numbers can be ordered individually, while 088 numbers are issued in blocks of 100.

National number

International number

Spanish, Italian, French number etc.

With an international phone number, you’re locally reachable abroad. Ideal for businesses with international customers or locations.

Your caller sees a recognisable local number and simply pays national call rates. That feels familiar and lowers the barrier to get in touch, no matter where in the world your customer is located.

A virtual number is a mobile 097 number that’s specially developed for IoT and M2M applications, where devices communicate with each other securely and independently. It’s the modern alternative to 06 numbers and ideal for smart devices, vehicles, and other connected systems.

An 18xy number is a special directory enquiry number that lets you easily route incoming calls to external phone numbers. Callers only need to remember one number, after which your organisation connects them to the right party.
